Judge John M. Antosz - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. John M. Antosz (Ret.) was a judge for the Grant County Superior Court in Washington. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gary Locke in October 1999. Antosz retired in April 2021.

While on the Superior Court, he held an assignment in the Juvenile Court and served as the presiding judge in Grant County. In addition, he was a member of the Superior Court Judges’ Association Civil Law and Rules Committee.

Antosz had also sat as a pro tem judge for the Superior Court and District Courts beginning in 1994.

At the time of his appointment, he was an attorney with the Hansen Law Firm in Ephrata. Antosz first joined the firm in 1984, where he handled cases involving crop liens, divorces, bankruptcy, criminal issues, and civil litigation.

He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration (accounting) from Valparaiso University. Antosz then completed a J.D. at Gonzaga University School of Law.

He was a past president of the Grant County Bar Association and was a United States Department of Justice ASTAR (Advanced Science and Technology Adjudication Resource) judge.

Antosz was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.
