Biography

The Hon. Kevin A. Blazs is a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Rick Scott in 2011, filling a vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. Jefferson W. Morrow.


The 4th Judicial Circuit encompasses Clay County, Duval County, and Nassau County. Blazs has held assignments in Duval County, presiding over cases in the Civil Division and the Criminal Division.


Prior to his appointment, Blazs was a judge for the Duval County Court, a position to which he was named by former Governor Jeb Bush in 2006. Before that, he was a partner at Gobelman, Love, Gavin, Blazs & Wasilenk in Jacksonville (1990 to 2006), supplementing his practice with service as an officer in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the United States Army Reserve.


Blazs earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Liberty University. He then completed a J.D. at Western Michigan University, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, in 1986. Blazs later completed an LL.M. from the University of London (1998).


After graduating from law school, Blazs began his legal career as an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney for the 4th Judicial Circuit. He also taught international trade law as a visiting professor at various universities throughout East Asia.


Blazs was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He is married with three children.
