Judge Kevin Klein - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Kevin Klein is a judge for the Price County Circuit Court in Wisconsin. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Scott Walker in 2017, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Douglas T. Fox.

Prior to his appointment, Klein was a court commissioner for the Price County Circuit Court. He also spent time as a sole practitioner in his own private practice, handling both civil and criminal matters as a general practice attorney. He supplemented his practice with service as the Village Attorney for the Town of Butternut.

Klein earned a bachelor’s degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1981.

After graduating from law school, Klein entered into private practice at a law firm in Phillips. He worked in that capacity until 1999, at which time he opened his own practice.

His memberships have included the Price-Taylor County Bar Association. He also sat on the Price County Security and Facilities Committee and the Phillips Area Chamber of Commerce, and he volunteered with the Flambeau Hospital Foundation and the Price County Women’s Health Alliance.

Born and raised in Elmhurst, Illinois, Klein is the son of a painting contractor who decorated churches. His family then relocated to Butternut, Wisconsin, when he was fourteen years old. Klein and his wife, Kathleen, reside in Phillips, Wisconsin. When not presiding over legal proceedings, he enjoys fishing.
