Judge Kevin S. Naught - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Kevin S. Naught is a judge for the Yakima County Superior Court in Washington. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Jay Inslee in 2017. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Susan L. Hahn (Ret.).

At the time of his appointment, Naught was a commissioner for the Yakima County Superior Court, a position he held since 2014.

Prior to joining the bench, Naugh practiced as an attorney at Finney, Falk, Naught & Remy PLLP.

He received a B.A. from Washington State University in 1993. Naught went on to complete a J.D. at Gonzaga University School of Law in 1996.

After law school, he joined the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps (1997 to 2000). During his military service, Naught was the Judge Advocate General Chief of Legal Services and attorney for the Ray Barracks in Germany and the JAG Operational Law attorney for Eagle Base in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

From a civic standpoint, he coached soccer and basketball for the YMCA and the Yakima Youth Soccer Association.

Naught was named Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by the Yakima County Volunteer Attorney Services in 2003.

A native of Bickleton, Naught grew up on his family’s wheat farm and later graduated from Bickleton High School.

He is married and has three sons.
