Judge Kurt B. Grimm - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Kurt B. Grimm is a judge for the DeKalb County Circuit Court in Indiana. He was elected to the bench on November 8, 2016, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon Kirk D. Carpenter (Ret.).

While on the bench, Grimm has been involved with the county’s Family Restoration Court and the Veterans Court.

Prior to his election, he worked in private practice, including at Grimm & Grimm, P.C.

Grimm received a bachelor’s degree from Hillsdale College. He went on to complete a J.D. at Western Michigan University, Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1987. While a law student, Grimm sat as Editor of the Law Review.

He was admitted to practice in Michigan (1988), Indiana (1988), and the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana (1988).

Grimm, a lifelong resident of DeKalb County, is a third-generation attorney. He is also a longtime member of Boy Scout Troop 169 in Auburn.

Grimm is registered as a Republican.
