Biography

The Hon. Laura L. Salinas is a judge for the 166th (Civil) District Court in Bexar County, Texas. She was elected to the bench in 2012.


Salinas earned a bachelor's degree from Incarnate Word College. Then, in 1997, she completed a J.D. at Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law. As a law student, Salinas worked as a law clerk in the Law Office of Reynaldo Diaz from 1996 to 1997.


After graduating from law school, Salinas entered into private practice. She first worked as an associate in the Law Office of Virgil Yanta. Two years later, she started her own private practice as a sole practitioner. She worked in that capacity until 2006.


Salinas was elected to the Bexar County Court at Law No. 9 in 2006. After serving for one term, she failed to secure re-election to the bench. Salinas then returned to private practice, where she worked until 2012.


Her memberships have included the San Antonio Bar Association's Community Justice Program and the Courts in Schools Program.


She is registered as a Democrat.
