Biography

The Hon. Lauren L. Brodie is a judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jeb Bush in 2001.


The 20th Judicial Circuit encompasses Charlotte County, Collier County, Glades County, Hendry County, and Lee County. Brodie began serving as a senior judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit Court in 1999. She has held assignments in Collier County, presiding over cases in the civil and probate/guardianship divisions.


Prior to her appointment, Brodie was a judge for the 11th Judicial Circuit Court in Miami-Dade County, a position to which she was named in 1995. Before that, she was a judge for the Miami-Dade County Court (1991 to 1995).


Brodie received her B.A. from Brandeis University. She went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1983.


After graduating from law school, Brodie began her legal career as an assistant city attorney with the Office of the City Attorney for North Miami Beach.


Her memberships have included the Thomas S. Biggs American Inns of Court and Drug Free Collier. She has also served as a faculty member of the Florida Judicial College and as a member of the Education Committee of the Florida Conference of Circuit Judges.


She is a recipient of the Hoeveler Judicial Professionalism Award from the Henry Latimer Center for Professionalism (2022) and the Judicial Distinguished Service Award from the Florida Supreme Court (2007). She was named Woman Lawyer of the Year by the Collier County Women's Bar Association (2016) and the Extraordinary Woman Leader in the State of Florida by the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (2015).


Brodie and her husband have four children and two grandchildren.
