Judge Lori K. Morgan - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Lori K. Morgan is a judge for the Allen County Superior Court in Indiana. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Eric Holcomb in 2021, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Charles Pratt (Ret.).

Morgan has held an assignment in the Family Division. She began her judicial career as a magistrate in the Family Division of the Allen County Superior Court in 1995.

Before that, Morgan handled family law matters at her own private practice (1990 to 1995). She also acted as a Guardian ad Litem for CHINS proceedings, appearing before the Allen County Superior Court.

She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. Morgan went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Iowa College of Law.

She chaired the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Commission and held memberships with the Indiana Judges Association, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, the National Association of Women Judges, the Benjamin Harrison Inns of Court, and the Allen County Bar Association.

Morgan sat on the Indiana Juvenile Benchbook Committee, the Juvenile Justice Improvement Committee, the Advisory Commission on GAL/CASA, the Indiana Judicial Conference Domestic Relations Committee, the Indiana Board of Law Examiners Character and Fitness Committee, and the Allen County Bar Association Family Law Executive Committee.

She has been a speaker at the Allen County Superior Court’s Annual Conference on Youth and is co-founder of the Court’s SCORE project, designed to support and recognize children adjudicated through CHINS who have made positive strides in their lives.

In 2021, Morgan received recognition from the Fort Wayne NAACP for her legal contributions and from Great Kids Make Great Communities for her community service. She is also the recipient of the NAACP Award for outstanding service to the community (2009) and the Women in Leadership Award from the Indiana Newscenter (2005).
