Judge Margaret A. Powers - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Margaret Powers (Ret.) served as a judge for the San Bernardino County Superior Court in California. Powers was initially appointed to the San Bernardino Municipal Court by former Governor Pete Wilson in 1992. She was subsequently elevated to the Superior Court three years later. Powers retired from the bench in 2011 and joined the Assigned Judges Program.

Powers earned a J.D. from Western State College of Law in 1983. After graduating from law school, she joined the Orange County District Attorney's Office as a deputy district attorney.

She is a recipient of the Kaufman-Campbell Award from the San Bernardino County Bar Association.

Before pursuing a law degree, Powers worked as a carhop. She also worked in various retail and clerical jobs before spending ten years in the cable television industry. Powers eventually became a general manager with Group W Cable.
