The Hon. Maria D. Granger is a judge for the Floyd County Superior Court in Indiana. She was elected to the bench on November 4, 2008, and re-elected in 2014 and 2020.
Granger played an instrumental role in the creation of the Veterans Court of Southern Indiana, which serves Floyd, Clark, and Scott Counties. She has also presided over complex business disputes throughout Indiana as a judge for the Indiana Commercial Court.
Prior to her election, Granger worked as an attorney in private practice. Before that, she spent time as a deputy prosecuting attorney for the Floyd County Prosecutor’s Office (1995 to 2000).
Granger earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary English education from Indiana University Bloomington in 1990. She then completed a J.D. at Indiana University, Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1994.
Her memberships have included the Indiana Judges Association, the American Judicature Society, the National Association of Women Judges, the Floyd County Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. She has also been involved with the Sherman Minton American Inn of Court, the Indiana Judicial Conference, and the Indiana Conference on Legal Education Opportunity.
She is a recipient of the LifeSpring Foundation Chairman’s Impact Award and the Center for Women and Families’ Public Service Award.
She is registered as a Democrat.
