Judge Mary Ann Brigantti - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Mary Ann Brigantti is a Justice of the Bronx County Supreme Court, Civil Term in the Twelfth Judicial District of New York. She was elected to the Supreme Court bench in 2005 and was subsequently re-elected to the judicial post in 2018. Prior to her election to the Supreme Court, Justice Brigantti had served as a judge for the Criminal Court of the City of New York from 2001 to 2003 and a judge for the Civil Court of the City of New York in Bronx County from 1997 to 2004.

Justice Brigantti received her B.A. from Fordham University. She went on to earn her J.D. from Temple Law School.

Brigantti joined the Civil Court after serving as counsel to the Bronx Borough President for one year beginning in 1996. Her legal career also included practicing for one year as an associate with the law firm Borah, Goldstein, Schwartz, and Altschuler P.C. from 1995 to 1996 and as the bureau chief with the New York State Attorney General’s Office from 1994 to 1995. Brigantti also served as a senior court attorney for the Hon. Israel Rubin.

In 2013, Justice Brigantti was censured by the State of New York Commission on Judicial Conduct.
