Judge Mary K. Polson: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Mary K. Polson (Ret.) served as a judge for the 1st Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Polson was elected to the bench in 2012. She retired on November 21, 2022.

The 1st Judicial Circuit encompasses Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton Counties. Polson held assignments in Okaloosa County, sitting on the county's first Early Childhood Court.

Prior to her election, Polson was a general magistrate for the 1st Judicial Circuit in Okaloosa County, a position to which she was named in 2010. Before that, she spent time as an attorney in private practice as well as an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney for the 1st Judicial Circuit.

Polson earned an A.B. from the University of George in 1979. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Georgia School of Law in 1982. She was admitted to the the Florida Bar and the State Bar of Georgia the same year.

She was born in Haines City, Florida.
