The Hon. Megan Wagner is a judge of the Orange County Superior Court in California. She was elected on June 7, 2016 after defeating Andrew M. Stein and Wayne Philips.
Wagner graduated with honors from the University of California, Los Angeles. She then earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law in 1987.
Wagner began her career in private practice, working for 25 years as a civil litigation attorney representing business owners. In 2011 she became a deputy district attorney with the Major Fraud Unit in Orange County, California. As a deputy district attorney, Wagner specialized in prosecuting cases concerned with real estate fraud, securities fraud, and financial elder abuse.
Wagner has received endorsements from Sheriff Sandra Hutchens, District Attorney Tony Rackauckas, the Orange County Board of Supervisors, and the Orange County Young Republicans. She was named Prosecutor of the Year in 2015 by the Southern California chapter of the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators. She was also awarded the Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating and named Top Lawyer in California for Ethical Standards and Professional Excellence in 2013, 2014, and 2015 by the Legal Network.
Judge Megan Wagner is married to Donald P. Wagner, a former Republican member of the California State Assembly for the 68th District who was elected as the nonpartisan Mayor of Irvine, California in 2016. Wagner and her husband moved to Orange County in 1991. They have three children, all of whom have attended public schools in Irvine. Her father is a retired judge in El Dorado County.
