Judge Nancy J. Alemifar: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Nancy J. Alemifar is a family court commissioner for the 16th Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri. She was appointed to the bench on June 19, 2015.

Prior to her appointment, Alemifar was a pro bono attorney at Husch Blackwell (previously named Blackwell Sanders Matheny Weary & Lombardi), a law firm she joined in 1995. During her tenure there, she represented parents and children in the abuse, neglect, and delinquency appointments assigned to the firm by the Jackson County Family Court.

Alemifar earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1982. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1991. She is admitted to practice in Missouri (1991) and the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri (1991).

After graduating from law school, Alemifar began her legal career as a staff attorney in the Housing Unit of the Legal Aid of Western Missouri. She served in that capacity until 1993, at which time she became an attorney for the Juvenile Office of the 16th Judicial Circuit.
