Biography

Hon. Paul Hesse is a district judge for the Canadian County District Court (District 26) in Oklahoma. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mary Fallin on May 24, 2017, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Gary E. Miller (Ret.).

At the time of his appointment, Hesse was the first assistant district attorney with the Canadian County District Attorney’s Office, where he was tasked with prosecuting all of the county’s serious felony crimes as well as representing it in civil matters and advising its officials. Before becoming a prosecutor, Hesse worked as a law clerk for the Oklahoma Tax Commission.

He received a B.A. in finance from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1993. Hesse went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1996.

He was admitted to practice in Oklahoma (1996), the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.

Hesse has served as a citizens advisory board member of the children’s advocacy center, C.A.R.T. House, and as a board member of the Intervention & Crisis Advocacy Network.

He and his wife, Mandy, have three children. At the time of his appointment, the family resided in Mustang.
