Biography

The Hon. R. O'Neil Williams is an associate judge for the 240th District Court in Fort Bend County, Texas. He was appointed to the bench in 2023.


Prior to his appointment, Williams was a judge for the 268th District Court, a position to which he was elected on November 6, 2018. He resigned from the post at the conclusion of his term on December 31, 2022.


Williams earned an associate's degree at Palm Beach Junior College and a bachelor's degree at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Then, in 1999, he completed a J.D. at Tulane Law School.


After graduating from law school, Williams began his legal career as an attorney in private practice, specializing in criminal, civil rights, family, and personal injury matters. He worked in that capacity for sixteen years, supplementing his practice with service as a senior criminal trial attorney for the Fort Bend County Public Defender's Office.


Raised in Houston, Texas, Williams attended James Madison Senior High School. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force as well as a former police officer and narcotics agent. He and his wife, Leah, have six children (one deceased). The family currently resides in Missouri City.


He is registered as a Democrat.
