Judge Robert O. Baldi - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Robert O. Baldi is a judge for the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Ed Rendell on July 29, 2009, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Mitchell S. Goldberg.

Baldi earned a bachelor’s degree from Lycoming College in 1971. He then completed a J.D. at The University of Tulsa College of Law in 1974.

After graduating from law school, Baldi began his legal career as a law clerk for the Hon. Edmund V. Ludwig of the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas. He served in that capacity until 1976, at which time he became a public defender for the Bucks County Public Defender’s Office.

Then, in 1979, he entered into private practice. As the founding shareholder of Baldi, Jenei & Cohen, he handled civil litigation, criminal defense, and family law matters as well as appeals from administrative agencies. During this time, he sat as a solicitor for the Bucks County Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation. He also chaired panels arbitrating insurance disputes and alternative dispute resolutions.

His memberships have included the Bucks County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the American Trial Lawyers Association. He has also served on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, VITA, Probational Volunteer Services, and the First Federal of Bucks County Savings and Loan Association.

Baldi was raised in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. His wife, Cheryl, is a writer. They have two daughters.

He is registered as a Republican. He served as treasurer for the Friends of Jim Greenwood and the Greenwood for Congress Campaigns (1980 to 2005).
