Judge Ronald C. Dresnick - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Ronald C. Dresnick (Ret.) was a judge for the 11th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Miami-Dade County. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Lawton Chiles in 1996. Dresnick retired in January 2015.

While on the bench, he held assignments in the General Jurisdiction, Criminal, and Family Divisions.

He received a B.A. from American University in 1966. Dresnick then completed a J.D. at the University of Miami School of Law (1970) and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School (1971).

He practiced briefly at Hunter and Atkinson, P.A. before joining the Miami-Dade County Public Defender's Office in 1971, where he worked as an assistant public defender for three years. Then, in 1974, he entered private practice at the Law Offices of Philip Carlton, Jr., where he remained until establishing his own law firm in 1976.

In 1984, he became a founding partner at Bailey, Gerstein, Rashkind & Dresnick, where he practiced criminal law alongside the late Richard E. Gerstein and F. Lee Bailey. Eight years later, Dresnick returned to solo practice, remaining in that capacity until his appointment to the Circuit Court in 1996. He also taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law and St. Thomas University School of Law.

After his retirement, Dresnick became a partner at Kluger, Kaplan, Silverman, Katzen & Levine, P.L., where his practice has included complex commercial and probate litigation, white-collar defense, and securities and internal litigation.

He served on the Board of Directors of the Easter Seal Society of Dade County.
