Judge Scott A. Washam - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Scott A. Washam is a judge for the General Division of the Columbiana County Court of Common Pleas in Ohio. He was elected to the bench on November 2, 2010, and re-elected on November 8, 2016.

Prior to his election, Washam presided as a magistrate for the Columbiana County Juvenile Court and Probate Court (2007 to 2010). Before that, he was an attorney in Moore, Primm & Conn, supplementing his practice with service as a solicitor for the Village of Lisbon.

Washam earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Kent State University in 1984. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Akron School of Law in 1987. As a law student, Washam was a staff member of the Akron Law Review, a journal that published Washam’s comment about Ohio’s workers’ compensation system.

His memberships have included the Columbiana County Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Ohio Association of Magistrates. He also sat on the Board of Trustees of the Lepper Library in Lisbon.

He is registered as a Republican.
