Judge Stacy D. Bennett - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Stacy D. Bennett is an Acting Justice of the Nassau County Supreme Court, Matrimonial Part in the Tenth Judicial District of New York. She was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2012. Justice Bennett was originally elected to serve as a judge for the Nassau County Family Court in the Tenth Judicial District in 2007.

She is a registered Democrat.

Justice Bennett received her B.A. from Boston University in 1989. She went on to earn her J.D. from Ohio Northern University in 1992.

After graduating from law school, Bennett entered into private practice. She practiced for eight years as an associate at Richard M. Weiner and Associates before then joining Jaspan Schlesinger Hoffman LLP in 2000. Bennett was named a partner at Jaspan Schlesinger Hoffman in 2005 where she specialized in matrimonial and family law.

Justice Bennett has served as a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, the Matrimonial Law Committee, the Family Law Committee, the Women’s Bar Association, and the Judicial Committee for Model Custody Litigation. She has also served as a board member of the North Shore Child and Family Guidance Center and a volunteer lecturer for the Parent Education and Custody Effectiveness Program.

In 2006, she received the Rising Stars 40 Under 40 Award from the Long Island Business News.
