Judge Stephen C. Rogers: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Stephen C. Rogers is a judge for the 268th District Court in Fort Bend County, Texas. He was elected to the bench on November 8, 2022.

Prior to his election, Rogers worked as general counsel to a number of title and real estate service companies, oil services firms, and smaller organizations. He has also represented individual clients in both civil and criminal matters, and he has served as an assistant district attorney for the Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office.

Rogers earned a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and master’s degrees from Pepperdine University (business administration) and Regent University (public policy). He spent the next few years working in sales and finance before completing a J.D. at Regent University School of Law (2001) and an LL.M. at Trinity Law School (2003).

He is admitted to practice in Texas, Arizona, and Iowa. He is also licensed to appear before The United States Supreme Court; the United States Tax Court; the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Ninth Circuits; the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas and the District of Arizona; and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Rogers has been involved with Fort Bend Lawyers Care, the Cookie Joe’s Dancin’ School, and Stella Maris.

A seventh-generation Texan, Rogers was born and raised in Houston and claims his ancestors were one of the first families to settle in the state. He attended the Kinkaid School and the Second Baptist School. Rogers and his wife, Rebecca, have four children. They are members of St. Laurence Catholic Church. When not presiding over legal proceedings, he raises Olde English Babydoll Southdown sheep on his farm in Needville.

He is registered as a Republican.
