The Hon. Steven M. Key is an associate justice for the Boston Municipal Court in Massachusetts. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Charlie Baker on October 2, 2019.
Key earned a bachelor’s degree in classics from the College of the Holy Cross in 1992. He then completed a J.D. at Suffolk University Law School in 1997.
After graduating from law school, Key entered into private practice. He started as an associate at Monahan & Padellaro (1997 to 2000) and Campbell Campbell Edwards & Conroy (2000 to 2006), representing automobile, bottle, and water heater manufacturers against claims of defects in their products as well as airline companies and their employees in general negligence claims.
Then, in 2006, Key opened his own private practice as a sole practitioner in Boston. During his tenure as a sole practitioner, Key also sat as a contract attorney for the Suffolk Lawyers for Justice, representing individuals charged with criminal offenses in the District Court and the Superior Court.
His memberships have included the Advisory Board of the Wheelock Family Theater and the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester.
