Judge Stuart F. Lubin: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Stuart F. Lubin is a circuit judge of the Juvenile Justice Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County. He was appointed to the bench in 1991 and was last re-elected in 2018.


Before pursuing a legal career, Lubin graduated with a B.A. from the University of Illinois. He then went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Illinois at School of Law.


After earning his law degree, Lubin served as an Assistant Public Defender for 17 years. During his tenure on the bench seat, Lubin received the Exemplary Dedication in Juvenile Justice Initiatives Dealing with At-Risk Youths award from the National Gang Crime Research Center in 2001.


Lubin has also been rated by the Chicago Council of Lawyers as “well qualified” and rated as “qualified” by the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.


Lubin is a registered Democrat.
