Biography

The Hon. Terry J. Wilhelm is a judge for the Greene County Court Multi-Bench in the Third Judicial District of New York. The Multi-Bench in Green County consists of its County, Family, and Surrogate’s Courts. Judge Wilhelm was elected to the seat in 2014. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. George Pulver (Ret.).


He is a registered Republican.


Wilhelm received his B.S. from the College of St. Rose in 1977. He went on to earn a J.D. from Albany Law School in 1980.


After graduating from law school, Wilhelm served as a village justice with the Catskill Village Court for one year. He also served a brief stint as a confidential law clerk to the Hon. John Fromer and the Hon. James Battisti with the Greene County Court in 1981.


The following year, Wilhelm joined the Greene County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney. In 1999, he was elected to serve as the District Attorney for Greene County. He served four terms as the County’s top prosecutor before being elected to the County Court bench.


In addition to his position with the D.A.’s office, Wilhelm also practiced as a partner at the law firm Brown, Kelleher, Zwickel, and Wilhelm LLP from 1982 until 1999. During his tenure in private practice, he specialized in litigating personal injury, civil, matrimonial, and family law cases.


His memberships have included the New York State Bar Association. He was a past president of the Greene County Bar Association.
