Judge W. Glen Pierson: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. W. Glen Pierson is a judge for the Waterbury Judicial District Superior Court in Connecticut. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Dannel Malloy in 2017.


Prior to joining the bench, Pierson was a principal attorney in the Wallingford law firm of Loughlin Fitzgerald, P.C. since 2001. As such, he handled civil litigation matters on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants, focusing on complex tort litigation, personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, products liability, and premises liability matters.


Pierson also practiced as an associate at Wiggin & Dana, LLP and Brenner, Saltzman & Wallman, LLP and spent time as an arbitrator in civil disputes and a court-appointed arbitrator and fact-finder for the New Haven Judicial District.


In addition, he served as a lecturer on Connecticut civil practice for the New Haven County Bar Association’s continuing legal education program.


Pierson received a B.A. in politics from Princeton University in 1990. He went on to complete a J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center in 1995. While a law student, he served on the editorial staff of The Tax Lawyer.


He is admitted to practice in Connecticut (1996), New York (1996), and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.


Pierson was a member of the Connecticut Supreme Court Historical Society and a Diplomate of the Connecticut Trial Advocacy Institute.


At the time of his appointment, he resided in Hamden, Connecticut.
