Judge William A. Lockhart: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. William A. Lockhart is a judge for the 14th Judicial District Circuit Court of Tennessee. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Bill Lee on August 13, 2021, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. L. Craig Johnson.

The 14th Judicial District encompasses Coffee County.

Prior to his appointment, Lockhart was a partner at Burch & Lockhart, a law firm located in Manchester. He supplemented his practice with service as a City Attorney for the City of Altamont.

Lockhart earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Middle Tennessee State University in 2010. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2013.

His memberships have included the Tennessee Bar Association and the Coffee County Bar Association. He has also been involved with the Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

Residents of Tullahoma, Tennessee, Lockhart and his wife, Hailey, have two children.

He is registered as a Republican.
