Judge Darrell E. Missey - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Darrell E. Missey (Ret.) was a circuit judge for the 23rd Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri. He was elected to the position on November 4, 2014. Missey retired in January 2022 after receiving an appointment to serve as director of the Children’s Division of the Missouri Department of Social Services.

The 23rd Judicial Circuit Court includes Jefferson County.

During his judicial tenure, he served as administrative judge of the Family Court in Jefferson County. Missey began his judicial career as an associate circuit judge for the 23rd Judicial Circuit Court in 2003.

Prior to joining the bench, he was a partner at the Wegmann Law Firm for ten years (1992 to 2002). At the firm, his practice focused on family and juvenile court matters.

He received a B.A. in political science from Truman State University in 1989. Missey went on to complete a J.D. at Saint Louis University School of Law in 1992. He was admitted to practice in Missouri (1992), the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Missey served for fifteen years on the Supreme Court of Missouri’s Family Court Committee and is a past chair of the Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative Replication Team. He also served on the Children’s Services Commission.

He and his wife, Andrea, have three grown daughters. The couple resides in Fenton, Missouri.
